Yes, we support students preparing for selective entry / scholarship exams in both Victoria and Queensland.

The exact tests as well as pathways differ between states, so preparation needs to be more than simply handling a student a stack of practice questions. At Learncor, we work on the skills behind these questions, while helping students become comfortable with the pace as well as the style of the exams.

At Learncor, we believe in strengthening the foundation of every student, rather than just giving them tests to work on.

We start by figuring out where you are at, where you want to go and what’s coming up next.

Students tell us what they have on their plate - upcoming tests, SACs, exams - and we work that into their learning plan.

If there’s a test in three weeks, we are not waiting until the week before to panic. We work backwards, build the right skills and ensure they’re ready when test day arrives.

Tell us what’s going on, what’s coming up and what you’d like your child to achieve. We’ll take it from there, starting with an initial assessment to identify the gaps.

Sometimes the gap is a missing concept, sometimes it’s confidence, sometimes it’s simply that someone explained it too quickly the first time. Whatever it is, we work on a plan and take you through it before we start the sessions.

We support students from grade 2 right through to grade 12, including VCE and QCE. Whether your child needs to build a strong foundation, strengthen the basics, or just challenge themselves and prepare for a scholarship exam, we meet them where they are, always.

We offer an initial discussion and a free-of-cost assessment so we can all understand what your child’s strengths and areas of improvements are. Once the assessment is done, we take you through our plan in detail and ensure we are all aligned on how Learncorn will support your child’s academic journey.

Currently, we offer both online and in-person (small group and 1:1) sessions, depending on what the child needs.

If you prefer learning from the comfort of your home, online works great, whereas if you prefer sitting across the table with your tutor, in-person sessions would work better for you.

The best way to start would be to get in touch with us where we can talk you through the different options and understand what kind of sessions would actually support your child the most. Either way, the lesson itself is always focused on what the student actually needs.

Feedback is provided on a regular basis - We don’t wait for the parents to contact us, we are proactive and reach out when we think we need their support (to encourage the students at home…or to just nudge them to do their homework).

We keep parents updated on what their child is working on, where they’re improving and what still needs attention on a regular basis. Whether that’s an upcoming assessment or an area of improvement, or just to celebrate a child’s recent achievement, you wouldn’t have to ask, “how are they actually going?”, we will reach out.

There isn’t one perfect starting point for this, since each student works at their own pace. However, starting a month before the exam might (most likely) not get us the desired results.

Most students need time to build foundational skills, and then focus on reasoning, speed, accuracy and test technique.

The earlier we understand where the student is starting from, the more thoughtfully we can plan the preparation. We assess what they can already do, identify the gaps and work towards the test from there.
